----------- The following conditions may be noted on the 1991-92 Park Avenue and Park Avenue/Ultras.
1. The molding pulls out of the molding retainer. In this situation, the entire molding lifts up out of the retainer.
2. The stainless steel section of the molding pulls loose from the plastic portion. In this situation, the plastic section of the molding remains in the retainer and the stainless steel section comes up.
To determine if either of these conditions is beginning to take place, push down on the stainless steel section of the molding. Assure the molding does not spring up as it is pushed down and released. A properly retained molding will be in contact with the windshield and the roof, showing no gap whatsoever.
----------- To correct either of the above conditions, the following procedure must be followed.
1. Obtain the new windshield molding, part number 25605994.
2. Remove the windshield pillar trim moldings from both sides.
3. Remove the drip moldings from both sides of the vehicle.
4. Remove the windshield molding from the retainer. Assure that none of the barbed portion of the molding remains in the retainer.
5. Assure the molding retainer is not broken or damaged to the point that another molding cannot be installed. If the retainer must be replaced, the windshield must be removed at this point.
6. Using a suitable tool, push the locking portion of the retainer toward the windshield to tighten the retainer's grip on the molding barb.
7. Assure the channel in the retainer is clean and dry.
8. Apply a light bead of Loctite 410 or equivalent the entire length of the retainer channel.
9. Align the centering notch in the new molding with the notch in the center of the retainer and install the molding into the retainer. The molding is completely installed when the bottom flap of the molding is in contact with the glass and the upper flap in contact with the roof. This contact should exist for the entire length of the flap.
10. Reinstall the drip moldings.
11. Reinstall the windshield pillar side moldings.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
