1991-92 C, H, E Cars and 1992 U-van vehicles equipped with 3800 (VIN 1 and VIN L) engines and up-integrated cruise control, may exhibit a "Cruise Control Inoperative" condition which cannot be isolated using the Cruise Control System check (Chart C-17) in Section 6E3 of the Service Manual. This condition can be caused by an open TCC brake switch input circuit to the PCM. If the cause of a "Cruise Control Inoperative" condition cannot be determined after completing the Cruise Control System check (Chart C-17), perform procedure in the Code 38 Chart in Section 6E3-A for TCC brake switch circuit diagnosis.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
