DIAGNOSE -

A. CHECK METHOD 1: ==============

LOWER MOVABLE GLASS TO THE FULL DOWN POSITION. VISUALLY INSPECT THE GLASS CONTACT AREA AT THE LOWER FRONT CORNER OF THE OPENING (SEE FIGURE 1). OPEN GLASS RUN CHANNEL LIPS AND INSPECT FOR FLOCKING AND/OR DRIED ADHESIVE IN THE CONTACT AREA. IF SO, THE WINDOW FRAME GLASS RUN CHANNEL MUST BE REPLACED.

CHECK METHOD 2: ==============

WITH MOVABLE GLASS UP, VISUALLY INSPECT LOWER FRONT CORNER OF MOVABLE GLASS. INSPECT LOCATION OF GLASS IN THE RUN CHANNEL LIPS. IF THE GLASS IS OUTBOARD AND INTERFERING WITH THE EXTERIOR LIP OF THE RUN CHANNEL AND NOT CONTACTING INSIDE LIP, THE FRONT LOWER WINDOW RUN CHANNEL MUST BE REPLACED.

IMPORTANT: TESTING DONE IN THE FOLLOWING CHECK METHODS (B. 1 AND 2) SHOULD BE DONE AT ROOM TEMPERATURE (70 - 80 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT; 21 - 27 DEGREES CELSIUS).

B. CHECK METHOD 1: ==============

TO INSURE UPPER EDGE OF GLASS RUN RETENTION, LOWER MOVABLE GLASS TO THE FULL DOWN POSITION WITH THE DOOR OPEN. FACING THE OUTBOARD SIDE, GRASP THE OUTER LIP PORTION WITH THUMB AND FORE FINGER (BOTH HANDS). PULL FIRMLY IN THE OUTBOARD DIRECTION, TOWARDS YOURSELF. YOU SHOULD NOT OBSERVE ANY EXCESSIVE MOVEMENT. REPEAT THIS PROCESS ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA. THIS OUTER LIP SECTION HAS BEEN TESTED TO WITHSTAND 20-25 POUNDS OF DIRECT PULL FORCE.

CHECK METHOD 2: ==============

TO INSURE LOWER EDGE OF GLASS RUN RETENTION, LOWER MOVABLE GLASS DOWN. GRASP LOWER PORTION OF GLASS RUN WITH THUMBS IN WEB SEALING AREA. ROTATE RUBBER LIP UP AND OUTWARD FIRMLY ALONG ENTIRE GLASS RUN CHANNEL. IF THE LOWER SECTION IS NOT ENGAGED, THE METAL RETAINER WILL BE VISIBLE AND THE LOWER FLOCKED LIP WILL MOVE OUTBOARD EASILY.

C. CHECK METHOD: ============

INSPECT FRONT AND REAR DOOR B-PILLAR SKULL CAP RUBBERS (SEE FIGURE 2). CHECK FOR LOOSE FIT DUE TO MISSING OR LOOSE PUSH PIN.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

A. CHECK 1: =======

IF WINDOW FRAME GLASS RUN CHANNEL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, REFER TO SECTION 10-6 OF THE SERVICE MANUAL.

CHECK 2: =======

IF FRONT LOWER WINDOW RUN CHANNEL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED:

1. REMOVE DOOR TRIM PANEL. REFER TO SECTION 10-6 OF THE SERVICE MANUAL. 2. REMOVE SPEAKER AND WATER DEFLECTOR. REFER TO SECTION 10-6 OF THE SERVICE MANUAL. 3. REMOVE UPPER AND LOWER RETAINING BOLTS. 4. REMOVE WINDOW RUN CHANNEL. 5. INSTALL NEW WINDOW RUN CHANNEL. 6. INSTALL WATER DEFLECTOR. 7. INSTALL SPEAKER. 8. INSTALL DOOR TRIM PANEL.

B. IF ONE OR BOTH CONDITIONS EXIST:

1. DISENGAGE ENTIRE PORTION OF GLASS RUN CHANNEL. 2. REINSTALL. START AT THE APPLIQUE AND MOVE TOWARD THE STATIONARY GLASS. PUSH UPPER SECTION IN TIGHT TO DOOR TO ENGAGE TOP RUBBER LIP. PUSH LOWER FLOCKED LIP IN TO ENGAGE LOWER RUBBER LIP. 3. RECHECK RETENTION AS IN CHECK METHODS 1 AND 2. 4. IF REINSTALLATION DOES NOT WORK, CHECK GARNISH RETAINER UNDERNEATH GLASS RUN CHANNEL TO INSURE THE PROPER RETAINER IS INSTALLED. INSPECT SHAPE OF RETAINER AND COMPARE WITH FIGURE 3. IF RETAINER IS NOT CORRECT, REPLACE IT. IF RETAINER IS CORRECT BUT DOES NOT HOLD, THE OPENING IS TOO WIDE. REWORK RETAINER WITH A FLAT-BLADED SCREWDRIVER. PLACE TIP OF SCREWDRIVER BETWEEN PLASTIC MOLDING AND LOWER METAL EDGE OF RETAINER (SEE FIGURE 4). PRY UPWARD A SMALL AMOUNT (.5MM - .75MM) TO CLOSE OPENING. REPEAT PROCEDURE ALONG FULL LENGTH. REINSTALL PER STEP 2 AND CHECK RETENTION PER CHECK METHODS 1 AND 2.

C. IF EITHER OF THE TWO CONDITIONS EXIST, REPLACE PUSHPIN. REMOVE OLD PUSHPIN, INSTALL NEW PUSHPIN BY PUSHING PIN THROUGH RUBBER SKULL CAP HOLE INTO HOLE IN FRAME UNTIL FULLY SEATED. CHECK FOR SNUG FIT.
