GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

The battery tray and retainer should be clean and free from corrosion before installing battery.

The tray should be in sound condition, to hold the battery securely and keep it level. Make certain there are no obstructions in the tray before installing battery.

To prevent the battery from shaking in it's tray, the retainer bolt should be tight, but not over tightened. Refer to ON-VEHICLE SERVICE in this section for torque specification.
