THIS IS A MONTHLY SERVICE NEWSLETTER ARTICLE. THIS BULLETIN IS NOT INTENDED FOR PUBLICATION.
IF A 1997 PARK AVENUE HAS A NOISE AT IDLE THAT SOUNDS LIKE AN ENGINE KNOCK, CHECK TO SEE IF THERE IS CONTACT BETWEEN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND THE FRONT SUSPENSION STABILIZER BAR . THIS CAN BE EASILY MISTAKEN FOR A BASIC ENGINE MECHANICAL PROBLEM. IF POSSIBLE, MOVE THE EXHAUST SO IT DOES NOT CONTACT THE BAR.
WHEN INSPECTING THE VEHICLE FOR THIS CONDITION, USE EITHER A DRIVE ON STYLE LIFT OR AN ALIGNMENT RACK. MISDIAGNOSIS CAN OCCUR IF THE SUSPENSION IS UNLOADED AND THE CRADLE ALLOWED TO TILT.
