Throttle Body Assembly Replacement VIN K

1. Drain the radiator coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .



2. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .



3. Remove the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor electrical connector (1) from the IAT sensor (2).



4. Remove the intake air duct from the throttle body.



5. Remove the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve electrical connector from the IAC valve.



6. Remove the TP (Throttle Position) Sensor electrical connector from the TP Sensor.



7. Remove the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor electrical connector from the MAF Sensor.



8. Remove the accelerator controls cable from the throttle body lever. Refer Accelerator Control Cable Replacement .
9. Remove the cruise controls cable from the throttle body lever. Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement .
10. Remove the accelerator controls cable from the accelerator controls bracket. Refer Accelerator Control Cable Replacement .
11. Remove the cruise controls cable from the accelerator controls bracket. Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement .
12. Remove the electrical harness retainer clip from the accelerator controls cable bracket.



13. Remove the vacuum hose(s) from the throttle body noting location.



14. Remove the throttle body support bracket.



15. Remove the 3 nuts and studs holding the throttle body to the intake manifold.

Notice: Do not use solvent of any type when cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as damage to the gasket surfaces and throttle body assembly may result.

Use care in cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as sharp tools may damage the gasket surfaces.
16. Clean the gasket surface on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly.

Remove the throttle body assembly from the intake manifold.




17. Remove the accelerator controls bracket from the throttle body if the throttle body is being replaced. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Bracket Replacement .

1. Install the accelerator controls bracket to the throttle body if necessary.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Tighten
Tighten the accelerator controls bracket bolts to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).




2. Install the new gasket, and new inserts and studs if necessary.
3. Install the throttle body assembly.
4. Install the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts to 10 N·m (7 lb ft).




5. Install the throttle body support bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the throttle body support bracket bolts to 11 N·m (8 lb ft).




6. Install the accelerator controls cable to accelerator controls bracket at throttle body. Refer to Accelerator Pedal Replacement .
7. Install the cruise controls cable to accelerator controls bracket at throttle body. Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement .




Important: The throttle should operate freely without binding between full closed and wide open throttle. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement or Accelerator Pedal Replacement .

8. Install the accelerator controls to the throttle body lever.
9. Install the cruise controls cable to the throttle body lever. Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement .
10. Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
11. Install the electrical harness retainer clip and harness to the accelerator controls cable bracket.



12. Install the vacuum hose(s) to throttle body as noted on removal.



13. Install the intake air duct (1) to the throttle body and air cleaner assembly.

Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 2 N·m (18 lb ft).

14. Install the IAT sensor electrical connector to the IAT Sensor.
15. Refill the radiator to replace the lost coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
16. Install the fuel injectior sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .

Throttle Body Assembly Replacement VIN 1

1. Drain the radiator coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
2. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .



3. Remove the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor electrical connector (1) from the IAT sensor (2).



4. Remove the intake air duct from the throttle body.



5. Remove the IAC valve electrical connector from the IAC valve.



6. Remove the TP (Throttle Position) sensor electrical connector from the TP sensor.



7. Remove the MAF (Mass AIR Flow) sensor electrical connector from the MAF sensor.



8. Remove the cruise controls cable (1) from the accelerator controls bracket (2). Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement .



9. Remove the accelerator controls cable (1) accelerator controls bracket (2). Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement .



10. Remove the cruise controls cable (2) from the throttle body lever (3). Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement .



11. Remove the accelerator controls cable (2) from the throttle body lever (3). Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement .



12. Remove the electrical harness (2) retainer clip (1) from the accelerator controls cable bracket (3).



13. Remove the accelerator controls cable bracket, if replacing throttle body.



14. Remove the 3 nuts and studs holding the throttle body to the supercharger.
15. Remove the throttle body assembly.

16. Clean the gasket surface on the supercharger and the throttle body assembly.

1. Install the accelerator controls bracket to the throttle body if necessary.

Tighten the accelerator controls bracket bolts to 16 N·m  (12 lb ft).




2. Install the new gasket, and new inserts and studs if necessary.
3. Install the throttle body assembly.
4. Install the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts to 10 N·m  (7 lb ft).




5. Install the electrical harness (2) retainer clip (1) from the accelerator controls cable bracket (3).



6. Install the accelerator controls cable (1) to accelerator controls bracket (2) at the throttle body. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement .



7. Install the cruise controls cable (1) to accelerator controls bracket at the throttle body (2). Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement .

8. Install the accelerator controls cable (2) to the throttle body lever (3).



9. Install the cruise controls cable (2) to the throttle body lever (3).

12. Install the electrical harness (2) retainer clip (1) and harness to the accelerator controls bracket (3).



13. Install the vacuum line to throttle body (1).



14. Install the MAF sensor electrical connector to the MAF sensor.



15. Install the TP sensor electrical connector to the TP sensor.



16. Install the IAC valve electrical connector to the IAC valve.



17. Install the intake air duct to the throttle body.



18. Install the (IAT Intake Air Temperature) Sensor electrical connector (1) from the IAT Sensor (2).



19. Refill the radiator to replace the lost coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
20. Install the fuel injection sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .

Tighten
Tighten the fuel injection sight shield nut to 2 N·m  (18 lb in).
