GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

Program the service SBM's EEPROM chip using the proper RPO configurations. The EEPROM stores information regarding the following information:

    • Vehicle options
    • Point of sale

When replacing the SBM, program the SBM in order to identify the following information:

    • Real Time Damping (RTD)
    • Memory Options
    • Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM)
    • HVAC
    • Dual Zone HVAC
    • Country of Sale (US, Canada, Europe, Gulf, etc).

If the SBM is not properly programmed, the vehicle will exhibit a no-crank condition. If the SBM is not properly configured, the SBM may set default values for some systems. This condition may cause malfunctions in other systems.
