Subject: | Supplement to 03054 Recall - Replacement Fuel Pressure Regulator Will Not Fit |
Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
Dealers may comment when performing 03054-Product Safety Recall fuel pressure regulator replacement, that the new fuel pressure regulator (part number 89017530 fuel pressure regulator kit) will not fit into the fuel pressure regulator housing, which is part of the fuel rail assembly.
If the fuel pressure regulator does not fit, it is because the engine probably has a BOSCH manufactured fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator. The change could have happened when past service was performed on the vehicle. There should be a manufacturers stamp (BOSCH) on the fuel rail or the fuel pressure regulator. If a manufacturers stamp is not available, there should be a part number, bar code or part casting number that the parts department or GM PARTECH can use to identify the supplier.
Important: If the engine has a BOSCH manufactured fuel rail or fuel pressure regulator, the product safety recall 03054 does not apply. Dealers should claim 0.2 hours under labor operation "V1117 Inspect, no replacement required", plus the additional 0.1 hours Administrative Allowance, to close out the recall.
Important: If the fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator has a DELPHI manufacturers label on it, perform the repair as stated in the Product Safety Recall 03054.
