When you press the GAGE switch, circuit 1328 grounds. The instrument cluster detects the ground on terminal A9 and cycles the DIC display through the gauge messages.
DTC B1523 sets under the following conditions:
• | The ignition is in RUN. |
• | The GAGE switch is stuck or shorted to ground for greater than 60 seconds. |
When DTC B1523 sets, one of the following actions occurs:
• | The instrument cluster disables the function of the GAGE switch for the remainder of that ignition cycle. |
• | The DTC is set as a history DTC. |
• | The instrument cluster displays the gauge message displayed when the condition was detected. |
Test for a binding, sticking or broken GAGE switch. If the GAGE switch is OK, clear the DTC. Perform the System Check. If the DTC is set current again, refer to DTC B1523 GAGE Switch Stuck/Shorted To Ground diagnostic table.
