Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the lower radiator air deflector from vehicle.
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  4. Drain the power steering fluid. Refer to Draining the Power Steering System

  6. Remove the retaining screws from the power steering lines retainer brackets on front top of engine.
  7. Remove the retaining screws (2) from the power steering lines retainer brackets on the right frame rail.
  8. Remove the retaining screws from the power steering lines at the top of the rear frame rail.

  10. Disconnect the power steering line at the power steering pump.
  11. Disconnect the power steering lines from the steering gear.
  12. Remove the power steering lines from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the hoses in place.

  2. Object Number: 183669  Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering lines to the pump.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose to the pump to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  5. Install the power steering lines (1) at the steering gear.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering lines at the gear to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the retainers and the bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the retainer bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  9. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tire and Wheel.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
