Did you perform the Cellular Telephone System Check ?

  1. Connect a scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  2. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  3. Using the scan tool, choose Body Diagnostics.
  4. Select cellular telephone (PHN).
  5. Choose Data Display, then select Inputs.
  6. Observe the Hands Free State screen.
  7. Attempt a hands free call.

Does the scan tool indicate Active for the hands free state?

Is the cellular telephone handset properly docked?

Properly connect the cellular telephone handset.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 13

  1. Inspect the cellular telephone handset connector for poor terminal contact.
  2. If OK, replace the cellular telephone handset. Refer to Cellular Telephone Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the cellular telephone handset connector.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  4. Using a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM), measure the voltage between the following cellular telephone handset connector terminals:
  5. • Terminal J.
    • Terminal K.

Is the measured voltage in the specified range?

Above 0.5V

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 8

Repair the short to ground in CKT 655 (GRY).

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 13

  1. Disconnect the cellular telephone microphone connector.
  2. Using a DMM set to the ohms scale, measure the resistance between the following components:
  3. • The cellular telephone handset connector terminal J.
    • The cellular telephone microphone connector terminal B.

Is the measured resistance in the specified range?

Less than 5ohms

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 9

Repair the open in CKT 655 (GRY).

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 13

  1. Disconnect the cellular telephone microphone connector.
  2. Using a DMM set to the ohms scale, measure the resistance between the following components:
  3. • The cellular telephone handset connector terminal B.
    • The cellular telephone microphone connector terminal A.

Is the measured resistance in the specified range?

Less than 5ohms

Go to Step 12

Repair the open in CKT 2012 (DK GRN).

Is the repair complete?

Replace the cellular telephone microphone. Refer to Hands-Free Microphone Replacement .

  1. Make sure any components removed during diagnosis are installed in place and that all connectors are connected.
  2. Repeat the system check. Refer to Cellular Telephone System Check .

Is the system check complete?
