  1. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  2. Close the front doors.
  3. Unbuckle the left front safety belt.
  4. Do not engage the parking brake.
    • The ABS indicator illuminates briefly.
    • The AIR BAG warning indicator flashes 7 times.
    • The BRAKE indicator illuminates briefly.
    • The CRUISE indicator illuminates briefly.
    • The high temperature indicator on the temperature gauge illuminates briefly.
    • The low fuel indicator on the fuel gauge illuminates briefly.
    • The MPH and km/h indicators on the speedometer illuminate briefly.
    • The OIL indicator illuminates briefly.
    • The SEAT BELT indicator illuminates for about 70 seconds.

    • The SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator illuminates briefly.
    • The TRAC OFF indicator illuminates briefly, if equipped.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Buckle the left front safety belt.
  3. Turn the ignition switch in RUN.

The SEAT BELT indicator illuminates for 5 seconds.

Apply the parking brake.

The BRAKE indicator illuminates.

  1. Engage the left turn signal.
  2. Engage the right turn signal.
  3. Engage the hazard flasher switch.
    • The left turn indicator flashes.

Turn on the headlight high beams.

The high beam indicator illuminates.

  1. Set the headlights on.
  2. Adjust the instrument panel dimmer control.

The instrument cluster illuminates and the dimmer control varies the illumination intensity.

Start the engine.

    • The fuel gauge indicates the fuel level.
    • The temperature gauge indicates the engine coolant temperature.
    • The tachometer indicates the engine RPM.
    • The speedometer displays zero.
    •  Fuel Gage Inaccurate or Inoperative Gauge - Fuel Inaccurate or Inoperative
    •  Engine Coolant Temperature Gage Inaccurate or Inoperative Gauge - Eng Coolant Temp Inaccurate or Inoperative
    •  Tachometer Inoperative Tachometer Inoperative

Press the ENG/MET button.

    • The odometer and the speedometer change measurement unit values (MPH or km/h).
    • The appropriate MPH or km/h indicator illuminates.
    • ENG/MET Button Inoperative

Press the TRIP RESET button (w/o UB7).

The trip odometer resets to zero.

Press the GAGE button (w/UB7).

The DIC cycles through the DIC gauge messages.

Press the FUEL INFO button (w/UB7).

Press the ODO/TRIP button (w/UB7).

The DIC cycles through the DIC trip messages.

Press the RESET button (w/UB7).

The trip odometer resets to zero.

  1. Press the brake pedal.
  2. Cycle the gear selector lever through all gear positions.
