  1. Listen to and touch the following relays in the underhood fuse block:
  2. • Starter Relay
    • Fuel Pump Relay
  3. Cycle the ignition from RUN to START repeatedly.

Do the relays actuate?

Go to Starting System Check in Engine Electrical

Go to Step 3

Inspect the theft deterrent (VTD) module.

Has the VTD module been replaced recently?

--

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Replace the VTD module.

Refer to Theft Deterrent Module Replacement .

Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components .

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Vehicle Theft Deterrent (VTD) System Check

Go to Step 5

Reprogram the original powertrain control module (PCM). Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming in Engine Controls.

Is the condition still present?

Go to Step 6
