The theft deterrent (VTD) module monitors the key code input to determine if it is within a valid operating range.
The VTD module has set DTC B2955 current and has detected a short to battery in the key code input.
• | Stores a DTC B2955 in the VTD module memory. |
• | No driver warning message will be displayed for this DTC. |
• | The VTD module no longer detects a short to battery for approximately 1 second or more. |
• | The history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles. |
• | Use a scan tool in order to clear a history DTC. |
Since the reader/exciter cannot be removed from the VTD module and DTC B2955 is an internal VTD module malfunction, the VTD module may be replaced. Refer to diagnostic table.

Perform the Theft Deterrent Diagnostic System Check before continuing with the diagnosis of this DTC.
Clear all DTCs and cycle ignition to check that the DTC did not falsely set.
Clear all DTCs after the repair procedure is complete.
