Go to Outside Mirrors System Check

1. Disconnect the mirror connector of the door module for the inoperative outside mirror.
2. Measure the resistance between the mirror position sensor signal circuit and the mirror sensor ground circuit of the mirror motor that is inoperative.
3. Measure the resistance between the position sensor signal circuit and the sensor reference circuit.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

OL

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 3

Test the sensor signal circuit, terminal 5 for an open. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 4

1. Make sure that the door module controlling the inoperative mirror is connected to the harness connectors except the mirror harness connector.
2. Turn ON the ignition.
3. Attach a fused jumper to the sensor reference and sensor signal circuit pins for the inoperative mirror motor.
4. With the scan tool, observe the mirror position sensor parameter in the driver door module (DDM) data list.

Does the parameter indicate the voltage range specified?

4.75-5 V

Go to Step 8

1. Attach a fused jumper to the sensor return and sensor signal circuit pins for the inoperative mirror motor.
2. With the scan tool, observe the mirror position sensor parameter in the DDM data list.

Does the parameter indicate the voltage range specified?

0-0.5 V

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 8

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the outside rear view mirror. Refer to Intermittents and Poor Connections Diagnosis in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Replace the inoperative outside rear view mirror. Refer to Power Mirror Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Replace the door module of the inoperative mirror. Refer to Front Door Module Replacement

Operate the mirror in its full range to verify the repair.
