Driver or Passenger Seat Head Restraint Adjuster Motor Replacement for Buick Park Avenue 1999

1. Remove the seat assembly. Refer to Seat Replacement .
2. Remove the head restraint (1). Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement .
3. Remove the seatback trim cover (7). Refer to Front Seat Back Trim Replacement .



4. Remove the J-channel from the head restraint side of the seat in order to expose the seatback frame (13).
5. Remove the roller assembly. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front and Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right Front in Restraints.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from under the seat frame.
7. Remove the 2 bolts (10).
8. Back out the seatback retainer bolts (11) in order to allow clearance for the adjuster motor wire harness connector.
9. Remove the head restraint adjuster motor (5).

1. Feed the wire harness down through the seatback frame (13).
2. Install the head restraint adjuster motor (5).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the head restraint adjustment motor bolts (10).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

4. Apply Loctite™ 242 (GM P/N 12345382) to the seatback frame bolts.
5. Install the seat back retaining bolts (11).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

6. Install the roller assembly. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front and Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right Front in Restraints.
7. Connect the electrical connector.
8. Install the seat cover J-channel.
9. Install the seatback trim cover. Refer to Front Seat Back Trim Replacement .
10. Install the head restraint. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement .
11. Install the seat assembly. Refer to Seat Replacement .
