DEFINITION: This table diagnoses the lumbar support (AL2) in the LH seat equipped with the memory function (A43). The table does not cover the LH seat without the memory function (A43) or the RH seat. Refer to the Lumbar Support System Check for diagnosis of the lumbar support in the RH seat or the LH seat without A43.

  1. Operate the LH lumbar switch in the inoperative position.
  2. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the lumbar switch connector from cavity E (BLK) to one of the following LH lumbar switch connector cavities:
  3. • Lumbar in: cavity B (DK BLU)
    • Lumbar out: cavity C (YEL)
    • Lumbar down: cavity A (YEL/BLK)
    • Lumbar up: cavity F (WHT)

Does the test lamp light?

Test for an open in one of the following circuits:

    • Lumbar in: CKT 1064 (DK BLU)
    • Lumbar out: CKT 1065 (YEL)
    • Lumbar down: CKT 1067 (YEL/BLK)
    • Lumbar up: CKT 1066 (WHT)

Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is there an open in the circuit?

Replace the LH lumbar switch.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the inoperative lumbar motor connector.
  2. Connect a fused jumper from battery positive voltage (B+) to one lumbar motor cavity.
  3. Connect a fused jumper from the other lumbar motor cavity to ground.

Does the motor run?

Repair the open or the short to ground in the one of the following circuits:

    • Lumbar in: CKT 610 (PNK)
    • Lumbar out: CKT 611 (DK BLU)
    • Lumbar down: CKT 767 (PPL)
    • Lumbar up: CKT 768 (TAN)

Replace the inoperative lumbar motor.
