Circuit Description

The theft deterrent (VTD) module monitors the key code input to determine if it is within a valid operating range.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The VTD module has set DTC B2955 current and has detected a short to battery in the key code input.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • Stores a DTC B2955 in the VTD module memory.
    • No driver warning message will be displayed for this DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The VTD module no longer detects a short to battery for approximately 1 second or more.
    • The history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.
    • Use a scan tool in order to clear a history DTC.

Diagnostic Aids

Since the reader/exciter cannot be removed from the VTD module and DTC B2955 is an internal VTD module malfunction, the VTD module may be replaced. Refer to diagnostic table.
