Battery Cable Replacement Negative
Removal Procedure
| • | Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing. |
| • | Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable. |
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
| • | Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery before proceeding with any replacement or repair. |
- Open the negative battery cable transition block cable protector cover.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable from the negative battery cable transition block.
- Remove the negative battery cable from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the negative battery cable to the negative battery cable transition block.
- Close the negative battery cable transition block cable protector cover.

| • | Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery before proceeding with any replacement or repair. |
- Open the positive battery cable transition block cable protector cover.
- Disconnect the positive battery cable from the positive battery cable transition block.
- Disconnect the positive battery cable from the positive battery terminal on the underhood junction block.
- Disconnect the positive battery cable wire ties from tie down locations.
- Disconnect the positive battery cable from the starter.
- Remove the positive battery cable from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the positive battery cable into the vehicle and lay the cable into its approximate location.
- Connect the positive battery cable to the starter.
- Lay the positive cable into its original routing location and connect all wire ties.
- Connect the positive battery cable to the positive battery transition block.
- Connect the positive battery cable to the positive battery terminal on the underhood junction block.
- Close the positive battery cable transition block cable protector cover.
- Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.
