Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the IP carrier assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  2. Object Number: 106373  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors (3) from the switches (2).

  4. Object Number: 695567  Size: SH
  5. Remove the pushrod retainer (3) and washer (2) from the brake pedal clevis pin.
  6. Disconnect the push rod (1).

  7. Object Number: 287894  Size: SH
  8. Remove the brake pedal mounting nuts from the cowl (1) .
  9. Remove the brake pedal mounting from the booster studs (2).
  10. Remove the bracket and pedal assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 287894  Size: SH
  1. Install the brake pedal assembly onto the booster studs.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the brake booster mounting nuts (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pedal to booster mounting nuts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  5. Install the brake pedal mounting nuts (1) to the cowl studs.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pedal mounting nuts to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  7. Apply lubricant, GM P/N 1050109 or equivalent, to brake pedal clevis pin (1).
  8. Install pushrod (1) to the brake pedal clevis pin.
  9. Install the push rod retainer washer (2) and clip (3).

  10. Object Number: 106373  Size: SH
  11. Connect the electrical connectors (3) to the switches (2).
  12. Install the IP assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
