Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System


    Object Number: 247310  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  3. Remove the A/C evaporator hose from the condenser.

  4. Object Number: 247113  Size: SH
  5. Remove the evaporator line fastener.

  6. Object Number: 247119  Size: SH
  7. Remove the A/C evaporator hose from the evaporator.

  8. Object Number: 583858  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the A/C hose clip (1) at the rail.

  10. Object Number: 378355  Size: SH
  11. Remove the A/C evaporator hose clips.
  12. Remove the A/C evaporator hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

J 39400 Electronic Halogen Leak Detector

  1. Position the A/C evaporator hose in the vehicle.
  2. Install the A/C evaporator hose clips.

  3. Object Number: 247119  Size: SH
  4. Install the A/C evaporator hose to the evaporator.

  5. Object Number: 247113  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the evaporator line fastener.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the A/C evaporator hose connection to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the evaporator hose into the clip (1) at the rail and fasten.

  9. Object Number: 247310  Size: SH
  10. Install the A/C evaporator hose to the condenser.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the connection to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  12. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  13. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  14. Test the A/C system for leaks using the J 39400 . Refer to Leak Testing .
