Chime Conditions

Audible warnings brings one or more of the following conditions to the driver's attention:

    • The seat belt is unbuckled and the ignition switches in the RUN position or the START position.
    • The key is in the ignition switch, the ignition switch is set to the following positions, and the left front door is open:
       - LOCK
       - OFF
       - ACC
    • The headlights or the park lights are on, the ignition switch is set to the following positions, and the left front door is open:
       - LOCK
       - OFF
       - ACC
    • Various warning conditions which notify the driver that a condition has occurred.
        Some warning chimes may command the instrument cluster to illuminate an associated indicator or display a driver information center (DIC) message.

Chime Priorities

When multiple chimes are required, only the chime with the highest priority sounds. The chimes are prioritized in the following manner:

    • The fasten seat belts warning chime overrides all other audible chimes if the chimes exist simultaneously.
    • The key in ignition warning chime overrides the lamps on warning chime if both chimes exist simultaneously.

Chime Rates

The chime operates in the following manner:

    • The fasten belts warning chime rate is 50 pulses per minute.
    • The lamps on warning chime rate is 150 pulses per minute.
    • The key in ignition warning chime rate is 200 pulses per minute.
