Odometers

The instrument cluster provides the following displays in both the base and uplevel clusters:

    • Season display
    • Trip odometer display

Season and trip odometer displays are provided in both the base and uplevel clusters. The base level cluster uses a dedicated display for odometer information. The uplevel cluster displays odometer information on the DIC. The uplevel cluster also has 2 trip odometers. Season and trip odometer information are displayed in the DIC when the ODO/TRIP button is pressed. All calculations for these displays are made in the instrument cluster based on the vehicle speed input received from the PCM.

Season Odometer

Important: When you replace a speedometer/odometer assembly, the federal law requires that you set the odometer reading of the replacement unit to the same mileage as the prior odometer. If you cannot set the same mileage, the law requires that you set the replacement odometer to zero and install a label on the driver's door frame in order to show the previous odometer reading and the date of replacement.

The season odometer displays the total accumulated miles or kilometers of the vehicle. The value is permanently stored in the EEPROM of the instrument cluster. If an odometer malfunction occurs or if you must replace the instrument cluster, contact an authorized Delco® service center in order to program the proper vehicle specifics (including mileage) for the instrument cluster.

The season odometer is capable of displaying 999,999 kilometers or 999,999 miles depending on units selected. Leading zeros are not displayed. The display will not roll-over to 000,000 if the maximum displayed mileage or kilometers are reached. If the display limit is exceeded, the maximum value (999,999) is displayed. If the mileage is above 621,503 and metric units are selected the odometer shall display 999,999 km.

Trip Odometer

The trip odometer displays the accumulated vehicle miles or kilometers since the last reset. The value is stored in the KAM of the instrument cluster.

In order to reset the trip odometer on the base instrument cluster, press the TRIP RESET button.

In order to reset the trip odometer on the uplevel instrument cluster (UB7), perform the following steps:

  1. Press the ODO/TRIP button.
  2. Press the RESET button when the trip odometer messages are displayed on the DIC.
  3. If a button is not used in order to reset the trip odometer, the display rolls over in the following manner:
  4. • The trip odometer rolls over at 999.9 miles when operated in English mode.
    • The trip odometer rolls over at 999.9 kilometers when operated in metric mode.
    • When the trip odometer is displaying greater than 621.4 miles (operating in English mode) and you press the ENG/MET button, the trip odometer resets to zero. The trip odometer resets to zero because the conversion from miles to kilometers is greater than 999.9 kilometers. If you press the ENG/MET button again, the instrument cluster converts the displayed kilometers to miles.
