The driver information center may be used in order to warn the driver of certain vehicle malfunctions and any required action. Warning messages are displayed by priority, with the higher priority messages displayed first. A list of messages follows.

CHANGE OIL SOON: The DIC displays the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message when the PCM sends a request. This message indicates that the vehicle needs an oil change.

DOOR AJAR: The DIC displays the DOOR AJAR message when the SBM sends a request. This message indicates that one or more of the four doors is open. If more than one door is open the condition is treated as one message.

LOW COOLANT: The DIC displays the ENG. COOLANT LOW CHECK LEVEL message when the SBM sends a request. The message indicates that the coolant level is below a pre-determined level. The sensor is a module that switches to ground or provides an open circuit for coolant level. The sensor provides a ground for a low coolant level and an open for a normal coolant level.

LOW OIL LEVEL: The DIC displays the ENGINE OIL LOW CHECK LEVEL message when the PCM sends a request. This message indicates that the oil level is below a pre-determined value.

LOW TIRE PRESSURE: The DIC displays the CHECK TIRE PRESSURES message when the EBCM sends a request. The message indicates that a low tire pressure condition exists. Acknowledgment of this message does not reset the tire pressure.

The IPC determines if the vehicle is equipped with traction control. If the vehicle is not equipped with traction control, the DIC does not displayed the TRACTION ACTIVE message .
