Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the cruise indicator illuminate during bulb check?

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Operate the vehicle and set the cruise control.
  3. Observe the Cruise Lamp parameter in the IPC data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the cruise lamp is commanded On?

Go to Step 5

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the PCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Engine Controls-3.8L

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the IPC. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for a faulty cruise indicator bulb. Refer to Instrument Cluster Bulb Replacement .

Replace the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Did you complete the repair?
