Removal Procedure

  1. Open the rear and the front doors.
  2. Separate the door wire harness conduit (2) from the connector.
  3. Depress the tabs (1) on the door wire harness connector in order to release the connector from the pillar.
  4. Disconnect the door wiring harness (2) from the body wire harness (3).

  6. Remove the door check link fastener (1) from the pillar.

  7. Object Number: 542895  Size: SH
  8. Remove the intermediate hinge fasteners (1) from both hinges.
  9. Lift the door in order to remove.

Installation Procedure

  1. Align the door hinge halves.
  2. Lower the door so that the hinge halves mate together.

  3. Object Number: 542895  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Use Loctite® Blue GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent prior to installing the fasteners.

  4. Install the intermediate door hinge fasteners (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the door check link. Refer to Door Check Link Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 547961  Size: SH
  8. Install the wiring conduit (4) over the door wire harness connector (2).
  9. Connect the door wire harness (2) to the body wire harness (3).

  10. Object Number: 542890  Size: SH
  11. Snap the assembled connectors into the pillar, ensuring a tight seal between the rubber conduit (2) and the pillar.
  12. Adjust the door. Refer to Door Adjustment .
  13. Touch up any paint damage to the intermediate rear door hinge and fasteners with body color paint.
