The Air Bag telltale indicates the ready status of the inflatable restraint system. The telltale activates when a class 2 message, indicating an inflatable restraint malfunction, is received from the SDM. The telltale will also activate during a loss of serial data class 2 and during the instrument cluster bulb check.
The diagnostic test is performed on the Air Bag lamp circuit whenever the telltale is being bulb checked.
DTC B1510 sets when the instrument cluster detects a malfunction with the AIR BAG telltale circuit during the IPC bulb check.
The cluster sends a class 2 message to the SDM identifing a lamp circuit fault. The instrument cluster does not request the chime to sound or activate the CHECK GAUGES telltale in the HUD (if equipped).
The IPC successfully completes an entire Air Bag telltale bulb check without detecting any failures.
The IPC will store the code as current only as long as the failure exists. An intermittent failure will be stored as a history DTC.
