Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the hazard lamps.
  3. Turn ON the hazard lamp switch.
  4. Turn OFF the hazard lamp switch.
  5. Turn OFF the ignition.

Did the hazard flashers operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the turn signal/multifunction switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Did the hazard flashers turn off?

Go to Step 6

Test the hazard switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the turn signal hazard flasher module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the turn signal/multifunction switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace th turn signal/multifunction switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column.

Replace the turn signal/hazard flasher module. Refer to Hazard Lamp Flasher Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
