Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 417239 Size: SH
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
  3. Remove the 2 fasteners retaining the steering column support bracket (1) to the IP carrier
  4. Remove the steering column support bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Apply LOCTITE® 242 on threads of both fasteners.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Install the bracket (1) to the IP carrier with the fasteners.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
  4. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
