Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the cooling fans. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
  2. Remove the hood latch support. Refer to Hood Latch Support Replacement in Body Front End.

  3. Object Number: 165589  Size: SH
  4. Remove the upper radiator seal.

  5. Object Number: 165598  Size: SH
  6. Remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator using the J 38185 .
  7. Remove the lower radiator hose from the radiator using the J 38185 .

  8. Object Number: 740541  Size: SH
  9. Slide the plastic cap off the transaxle oil cooler pipe quick connect fittings.
  10. Using the J 41623-B disconnect the upper transmission oil cooler line (1).
  11. Using the J 41623-B disconnect the lower transmission oil cooler line (2).

  13. Remove the overflow hose from the radiator.

  14. Object Number: 204025  Size: SH
  15. Remove the condenser to radiator mounting screws.

  16. Object Number: 165588  Size: SH
  17. Remove the upper radiator mounting bracket retaining bolts and brackets.
  18. Remove the radiator from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the radiator to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 165588  Size: SH
  3. Install the upper radiator mounting brackets.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the upper radiator mounting brackets retaining bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    Notice: The bolt retaining the condenser to the radiator end tank is a special length and should be the ONLY bolt used upon reinstallation. The use of a longer bolt will damage the radiator end tank.

  7. Install the condenser mounting bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 13 N·m (10 lb ft).

  9. Install the overflow hose to the radiator.

  10. Object Number: 740541  Size: SH
  11. Connect the lower transmission oil cooler line (1).
  12. Connect the upper transmission oil cooler line (2).
  13. Slide the plastic cap over the transaxle oil cooler pipe quick connect fittings.

  14. Object Number: 165598  Size: SH
  15. Install the lower radiator hose to the radiator using the J 38185 .
  16. Install the upper radiator hose to the radiator using the J 38185 .

  17. Object Number: 165589  Size: SH
  18. Install the upper radiator seal.
  19. Install the hood latch support. Refer to Hood Latch Support Replacement in Body Front End.
  20. Install the cooling fans. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
  21. Inspect the transmission oil level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
