  8. Object Number: 481091 Size: SH
  9. Remove the idle air control valve O-ring from the idle air control valve.
  10. Inspect the idle air control valve O-ring for cracks or damage. Replace the idle air control valve O-ring if necessary.

Installation Procedure

Notice: The IAC valve may be damaged if installed with the cone (pintle) extended more than 28 mm (1-1/8 in). Measure the distance that the valve is extended before installing a new valve. The distance from the idle air control valve motor housing to the end of the idle air control valve pintle should be less than 28 mm (1-1/8 in). Manually compress the pintle until the extension is less than 28 mm (1-1/8 in).

    Object Number: 481091 Size: SH
  1. Install the new idle air control valve O-ring to the idle air control valve.

  2. Object Number: 481081 Size: SH
  3. Install the idle air control valve into the throttle body.

  4. Object Number: 200431 Size: SH

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the idle air control valve attaching screws.
  6. Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

    Object Number: 155466 Size: SH
  7. Install the idle air control valve electrical connector to the idle air control valve.
  8. The powertrain control module (PCM) will reset the idle air control valve whenever the ignition is turned ON, then OFF.
  9. Turn the ignition ON, then OFF.

  10. Start the engine and allow the engine to reach operating temperature.
