Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the evaporator tube from the retaining clips.
  3. Loosen the evaporator tube nut.

  5. Separate the evaporator tube at the expansion tube location.

  6. Object Number: 247323  Size: SH
  7. Remove the expansion tube from the liquid line.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Lubricate the new expansion tube O-ring with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil before installing into the evaporator tube.

  1. Install the new expansion tube. Ensure that the short screen faces toward the evaporator.

  2. Object Number: 583983  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Connect the A/C evaporator tube.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the dual O-ring joint nut to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Connect the A/C evaporator tube to the retaining clips.
  6. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  7. Leak test the fitting(s) of the component using theJ 39400-A .
