J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 583979  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the retainer.

  3. Object Number: 583971  Size: SH
  4. Remove the evaporator tube retainer.
  5. Remove the A/C compressor hose to accumulator nut.

  6. Object Number: 583989  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the A/C compressor hose from the accumulator.
  8. Loosen the accumulator tube nut.
  9. Disconnect the accumulator tube from the accumulator.

  10. Object Number: 378335  Size: SH
  11. Remove the accumulator bracket retaining bolt.

  12. Object Number: 583992  Size: SH
  13. Remove the accumulator from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Add the proper amount of refrigerant oil to the accumulator. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities .

  2. Object Number: 583992  Size: SH
  3. Install the accumulator to the bracket.

  4. Object Number: 378335  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the accumulator bracket retaining bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  7. Connect the accumulator tube to the accumulator.
  8. Install the accumulator tube nut.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  10. Install the A/C compressor hose to the accumulator.

  12. Install the A/C compressor hose to accumulator nut.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  14. Install the evaporator tube retainer.

  15. Object Number: 583979  Size: SH
  16. Connect the evaporator tube to the retainer.
  17. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  18. Leak test the component fittings using theJ 39400-A .
