Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
2. Remove the A/C evaporator tube to condenser bolt.
3. Remove the A/C evaporator tube from the condenser



4. Remove the A/C evaporator tube to evaporator nut.



5. Remove the A/C evaporator tube from the evaporator.



6. Disconnect the A/C hose clip (1) at the frame rail.



7. Remove the A/C evaporator tube clips.
8. Remove the A/C evaporator tube from the vehicle.

1. Position the A/C evaporator tube in the vehicle.
2. Install the A/C evaporator tube clips.



3. Connect the A/C evaporator tube to the evaporator.




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

4. Install the evaporator tube to evaporator nut.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).





Important: If the clip was damaged during removal, install a new clip.

5. Install the evaporator tube into the clip (1) at the frame rail and fasten the clip.
6. Install the A/C evaporator tube to the condenser.



7. Install the A/C evaporator tube to condenser bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

8. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
9. Leak test the component fittings using theJ 39400-A .
