Did you perform A Diagnostic System Check - Theft Deterrent?

Go to Step 2

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, command the security indicator ON through the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR), Special Functions, Output Control data list.

Does the SECURITY indicator illuminate?

  1. Turn Off the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the RCDLR.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Using a 3 amp fuse jumper wire, jumper the security indicator supply voltage circuit to a good ground.

Does the SECURITY indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Test the security indicator supply voltage circuit of the RCDLR for an open.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Inspect for poor connections at the RCDLR. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the Instrument Cluster. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Important: When replacing the RCDLR, perform the transmitter programming procedure. Refer to Transmitter Programming in Keyless Entry.

Replace the RCDLR. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.

Replace the Instrument Cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel , Gages and Console.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
