Modes of Operation
Automatic Door Locks
The following are the modes of operation for the automatic door locks
feature:
| The automatic door locks feature is disabled. |
| All of the doors lock when the vehicle is shifted out of PARK with the
ignition ON. |
| All of the doors lock when the vehicle is shifted out of PARK with the
ignition ON. Only the driver door unlocks when the vehicle is shifted into
PARK. |
| All of the doors lock when the vehicle is shifted out of PARK with the
ignition ON. All of the doors unlock when the vehicle is shifted into PARK. |
Delayed Locking
The following are the modes of operation for the delayed locking feature:
| All of the doors lock 5 seconds after the last door is closed when the
lock switch is activated. |
| Delayed locking is disabled. |
Remote Activation Verification
The following are the modes of operation for the remote activation verification
feature:
| The remote activation verification feature is disabled. |
| The exterior lamps flash when the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry
transmitter is pressed. |
| The exterior lamps flash when the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter
is pressed. |
| The exterior lamps flash when either the UNLOCK button or the LOCK button
on the keyless entry transmitter is pressed. |
| The exterior lamps flash and the horn chirps when the LOCK button on
the keyless entry transmitter is pressed. |
| The exterior lamps flash when either the UNLOCK button or the LOCK button
on the keyless entry transmitter is pressed. The horn chirps when the LOCK
button on the transmitter is pressed. |
Memory Seats Programming
Perform the following actions in order to program the memory seats:
- Move the seat to the desired position.
- Press and hold the correct memory seat button for the specific
driver until a beep is heard.
- Move the seat to the desired EXIT position.
- Press and hold the EXIT button until a beep is heard.
- Repeat steps 1-4 for remaining driver.
Programming Features on Vehicles Without DIC
Important: Transmitter 1 and transmitter 2 may be programmed separately for 2 different
drivers. When programming the personalization features using the
keyless entry transmitters, be sure to use the correct transmitter for
the driver whose features are currently being programmed.
Enter Programming
To enter the programming mode, perform the following actions:
- Turn the ignition to RUN.
- Place the vehicle in PARK.
- Close all of the doors.
- Depress and hold the driver side power door lock switch during
the entire personalization programming session. The doors will lock to confirm
program mode.
Automatic Door Locks
Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the automatic
door locks:
- Press the LOCK button on the correct keyless entry transmitter.
The vehicle will remain in the current mode and react according to the
current mode settings (see Automatic Door Lock modes above).
- Press the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter again in
order to advance to the next mode. Again the vehicle will react according
to the mode settings.
- Continue to press the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter
until the desired mode is reached.
Delayed Locking
Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the delayed
locking feature:
- Press the UNLOCK button on the correct keyless entry transmitter.
- The door locks signal the current mode. If the delayed locking
feature is ON, the doors lock. If the delayed locking feature is OFF, the
doors unlock.
- Press the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter again
in order to advance to the next mode.
The door locks lock or unlock to signal the mode change.
Remote Activation Verification
Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the remote
activation verification feature:
- Press the rear compartment release button on the correct keyless
entry transmitter. The vehicle will remain in the current mode, and the horn
will chirp once.
- Press the rear compartment release button on the keyless entry
transmitter again to move to the next mode. The horn will chirp once.
- Continue to press the rear compartment release button until the
desired mode is reached.
Perimeter Lighting
Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the perimeter
lighting:
- Press the panic button on the correct keyless entry transmitter.
- The horn signals the current mode. If the perimeter lighting feature
is ON, the horn will chirp twice. If the perimeter lighting feature is OFF,
the horn will chirp once.
- Press the panic button on the keyless entry transmitter again
in order to advance to the next mode.
The horn will chirp to signal the mode change.
Exit Programming
The following list of events will cause the programming sequence to
be terminated:
• | The ignition is moved from the RUN position. |
• | The key is used to manually unlock the door, and the door is opened. |
• | The driver side power door lock switch is released. |
• | The programming time of 2 minutes expires. |
Programming Features with the Driver Information Center (DIC)
Enter Programming
To enter programming with the DIC, perform the following actions:
- Turn the ignition to RUN.
- Place the vehicle in PARK.
- Press any DIC button.
- Press the ENG/MET button for 5 seconds.
- The DIC displays WELCOME TO BUICK OPTION FEATURE.
- The DIC then displays the driver number and ARMREST BUTTON CHANGES
DRIVER #.
- To change the driver # for this programming session, press the
appropriate memory seat button.
- Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
Parallel Park Assist
Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the parallel
park assist feature:
- The DIC displays PARALLEL PARK: OFF/ON.
- Press the ENG/MET button to place the arrow before the desired
choice.
- Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
Automatic Door Locks
Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the automatic
door locks:
- The DIC displays AUTO DOOR LOCKS: OFF/ON.
- Press the ENG/MET button to place the arrow before the desired
choice.
- Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
- If the previous choice was AUTO DOOR LOCKS ON, the DIC displays
UNLOCK: OFF/ON.
- Press the ENG/MET button to place the arrow before the desired
choice.
- Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
- If the previous choice was UNLOCK ON, the DIC displays WHICH DOORS:
ALL/ DRIVER.
- Press the ENG/MET button to place the arrow before the desired
choice.
- Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
Delayed Locking
Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the delayed
locking feature:
- The DIC displays DELAYED LOCKING: OFF/ON.
- Press the ENG/MET button to place the arrow before the desired
choice.
- Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
Remote Activation Verification
Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the remote
activation verification feature:
- The DIC displays LOCK FEEDBACK: OFF/ON.
- Press the ENG/MET button to place the arrow before the desired
choice.
- Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
- If the previous choice was LOCK FEEDBACK ON, the DIC displays
LOCK FEEDBACK: LIGHTS/LIGHTS+HORN
- Press the ENG/MET button to place the arrow before the desired
choice.
- Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
- The DIC displays UNLOCK FEEDBACK: OFF/LIGHTS appears on the display.
- Press the ENG/MET button to place the arrow before the desired
choice.
- Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
Perimeter Lighting
Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the perimeter
lighting:
- The DIC displays PERIMETER LIGHTS: OFF/ON.
- Press the ENG/MET button to place the arrow before the desired
choice.
- Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
Memory Seats
Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the memory
seat recall:
- The DIC displays SEAT RECALL: OFF/ON.
- Press the ENG/MET button to place the arrow before the desired
choice.
- Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
- If the last choice was SEAT RECALL ON, the DIC displays RECALL
POSITION: MEMORY/EXIT.
- Press the ENG/MET button to place the arrow before the desired
choice.
- Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
Passenger Window Lock-Out
Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the passenger
window lock-out feature:
- The DIC displays WINDOW LOCKOUT: ALL PASS/REAR.
- Press the ENG/MET button to place the arrow before the desired
choice.
- Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
Exit Programming
When the programming is complete, OPTION FEATURE SELECTION DONE appears
on the display. To exit programming before the list is complete, press any
of the following DIC buttons:
Programming Features with the Tech 2
Enter Programming
To enter programming with the Tech 2, perform the following actions:
- Install the scan tool.
- Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
- Select the correct vehicle and model year.
- Select Body.
- Select Personalization.
Automatic Door Locks
Continue with the following steps in order to program the automatic
door locks feature:
- Select Set Options.
- Select Fob #1 Option #2 or Fob #2 Option #2.
- Highlight the desired mode from the following choices (see Automatic
Door Locks modes above for mode descriptions):
• | Automatic Door Lock Mode 0 |
• | Automatic Door Lock Mode 1 |
• | Automatic Door Lock Mode 2 |
• | Automatic Door Lock Mode 3 |
- Press the ENTER button in order to turn the mode ON or OFF. An
asterisk appears beside the current mode. (You must turn the current mode
OFF before you can turn another one ON.)
- Select Save Options.
- Exit from the menu.
Delay Locking
Continue with the following steps in order to program the delay locking
feature:
- Select Set Options.
- Select Fob #1 Option #1 or Fob #2 Option #1.
- Highlight Delay Locking and press the ENTER button in order to
turn the feature ON or OFF. An asterisk appears when the feature is turned
ON.
- Select Save Options.
- Exit from the menu.
Driver ID
Continue with the following steps in order to enter a new driver ID:
- Select Driver Information Center.
- Select Driver #1 Name or Driver #2 Name.
- Spell the ID with the Tech 2 keys.
- Select Save Options.
- Exit from the menu.
Parallel Park Assist
Continue with the following steps in order to program the parallel park
assist feature:
- Select Set Options.
- Select Fob #1 Mirrors or Fob #2 Mirrors.
- Highlight Parallel Park Assist and press the ENTER button in order
to turn the feature ON or OFF. An asterisk appears when the feature is turned
ON.
- Select Save Options.
- Exit from the menu.
Passenger Window Lock-Out
Continue with the following steps in order to program the passenger
window lock-out feature:
- Select Set Options.
- Select Fob #1 Windows or Fob #2 Windows.
- Highlight Include Front Pass. Window Lockout to have all three
windows locked out when chosen. Press the ENTER button in order to turn the
feature ON or OFF. An asterisk appears when the feature is turned ON.
- Select Save Options.
- Exit from the menu.
Perimeter Lighting
Continue with the following steps in order to program the perimeter
lighting feature:
- Select Set Options.
- Select Fob #1 Option #1 or Fob #2 Option #1.
- Highlight Perimeter Lighting and press the ENTER button to turn
the feature ON or OFF. An asterisk appears when the feature is turned ON.
- Select Save Options.
- Exit from the menu.
Remote Activation Verification
Continue with the following steps in order to program the remote activation
verification feature:
- Select Set Options.
- Select Fob #1 Option #3 or Fob #2 Option #3.
- Highlight the desired mode from the following choices (see Remote
Activation Verification modes above for mode descriptions):

• | Activation Verification Mode 1 |
• | Activation Verification Mode 2 |
• | Activation Verification Mode 3 |
• | Activation Verification Mode 4 |
• | Activation Verification Mode 5 |
- Press the ENTER button in order to turn the mode ON or OFF. An
asterisk appears beside the current mode. (You must turn the current mode
OFF before you can turn another one ON.)
- Select Save Options.
- Exit from the menu.
