Subject: | Service VME - Ignition Switch Knob Change |
Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
For the 2004 model year the size of the ignition switch knob changed to accept a larger key head size. This was done to make the Park Avenue ignition transponder common with other carlines. As a result of this change the ignition switch knob where the key is inserted is too large to fit pass the steering column trim cover when it's necessary to remove it for servicing and or access to the steering column. Delphi has updated the service information regarding the removal of the column trim covers. The lower cover must be removed first, then the upper can be lifted up so the technician can access the release pin for the ignition lock cylinder.
