Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 692091  Size: SH
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  2. Remove the steering wheel from the column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  3. Remove the tilt lever from the lower trim cover. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement .
  4. Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws (1, 2) from the lower trim cover (3).

  5. Object Number: 723623  Size: SH
  6. Gently unsnap the lower trim cover from the upper trim cover.

  7. Object Number: 692093  Size: SH

    Important: In order to remove the upper trim cover and lock cylinder you will need to release the lock cylinder retaining pin in the access hole of the ignition lock cylinder case.

  8. Remove 1 TORX® head screw (1) from the upper trim cover (2).
  9. Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  10. Remove the upper trim cover.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 692093  Size: SH
  1. Install the upper trim cover (2) onto the steering column. Install 1 TORX® head screw (1) into the upper trim cover (2).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  3. Install the lower trim cover onto the upper trim cover.
  4. Important: If column shift, the shift lever seal must be seated in the trim covers.

  5. Slide the shift lever seal down the shift lever.
  6. Gently snap the upper and lower trim covers together.

  7. Object Number: 692091  Size: SH
  8. Install 2 pan head tapping screws (1, 2) into the lower trim cover (3).
  9. Tighten

    • Tighten 1 pan head tapping screw (1) to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).
    • 
    • Tighten 1 pan head tapping screw (2) to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
  10. Install the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  11. Install the tilt lever into the lower trim cover. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement .
  12. Install the steering wheel onto the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  13. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
