Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 537218  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the washer pump.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the washer solvent container level sensor.
  3. Disconnect the washer hose from the washer pump.
  4. Drain the washer solvent into a suitable container.
  5. Important: Do not disconnect the hydraulic brake pipes from the master cylinder.

  6. Remove the brake master cylinder mounting nuts. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
  7. Carefully position the brake master cylinder toward the passenger compartment.

  9. Remove the 2 nuts from the washer solvent container.
  10. The washer solvent container has a tab which is located to a slot in the vehicle body rail.
  11. Lift upward, in order to remove the washer solvent container from the vehicle.

  13. Remove the washer pump and the grommet from the washer solvent container.
  14. Remove the washer solvent level sensor from the washer solvent container.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 537226  Size: SH

    Important: The tab on the washer solvent level sensor must be aligned with the slot in the hole on the container.

  1. Install the washer solvent level sensor into the washer solvent container.
  2. Install the grommet and the washer pump into the washer solvent container.
  3. Align the lower tab on the container with the slot in the body rail.
  4. Position the container in order to install the 2 nuts.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the washer solvent container with 2 nuts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 8 N·m (70 lb in).

  8. Carefully position the brake master cylinder to the mounting studs.
  9. Install the brake master cylinder mounting nuts. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.

  10. Object Number: 537218  Size: SH
  11. Connect the electrical connectors to the washer solvent container level sensor and the washer pump.
  12. Connect the washer hose to the washer pump.
  13. Fill the washer solvent container with washer solvent.
  14. Secure the washer solvent container cap.
  15. Verify the wiper washer system operation.
