  1. Insert a CD magazine with at least 1 audio CD into the remote playback device (CD player).
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn ON the radio.
  4. Attempt to play the CD in the CD player.

Does the CD player play without noise?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the CD player.
  2. Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the CD player. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Remove the radio. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems.
  2. Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the radio. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the shield ground for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the remote radio audio output (-) circuit for a short, high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect the audio harness shield for damage.
