The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customer may comment of an intermittent squeak noise from the steering column when rapidly turning the steering wheel left to right. This can be noticed mostly in parking lot maneuvers or while the vehicle is parked moving the steering wheel left
to right. This noise can be induced by rocking the steering wheel inflator left to right keeping the steering wheel straight. This may be the result of loose horn contacts that are secured to the steering wheel under the inflator module.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If the noise can be induced this way, remove the steering wheel inflator per SI instructions and attempt to induce the concern again. If the noise is eliminated, replace the horn contacts connected to the steering wheel and evaluate. These parts are available
separate from the steering wheel.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
