Condition #1

Some customers may comment that the headliner is lower at the rear and/or the sides of the sunroof opening.

Cause #1

The adhesive on the Velcro® strips that retain the headliner to the roof may have come loose from the sunroof frame.

Correction #1

  1. Pull the headliner down at the rear and remove the portion of Velcro® that has come loose from the sunroof frame.
  2. Lightly lay that piece of Velcro® on top of the Velcro® that is attached to the headliner.
  3. Push the headliner upward lightly so the Velcro® reattaches itself to the sunroof frame.
  4. Mark the perimeter of the Velcro® on the sunroof frame and then remove the Velcro®.
  5. Apply fast cure epoxy adhesive to the back side of the Velcro®.
  6. Reinstall the Velcro® to the previously marked location from Step 3.
  7. Let cure and push the headliner back into position.

Condition #2

The plastic extension(s) that the Velcro is attached to may have come loose from the headliner.

Cause #2

The adhesive on the plastic extension(s) to the headliner may have come loose.

Correction #2

Apply a fast cure two-part epoxy to the plastic extension and reinstall it to the headliner.

Condition #3

The Velcro strips may have separated between themselves.

Cause #3

The hook portion of the Velcro® strips may not have enough retention to the cloth portion of the Velcro.

Correction #3

Replace the Velcro on the plastic extensions following the procedure below.

  1. Remove the hook portion of the Velcro from the plastic extension(s) using a utility knife.
  2. Important: The hook portion of the Velcro is sonic welded to the plastic extension in the middle and on the outer edges.

  3. Apply a fast cure, two-part epoxy to the plastic extension and install 3M™ Dual Lock™ to the extension using the coarser of the two.
