Disconnecting Procedure
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Record all preset and theft codes from the radio.
- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Verify that all the electrical components are off such as interior lights, all doors are closed, the underhood lamp, etc.
- Loosen the negative battery cable bolt.
- Remove the negative battery cable (2) from the battery.
- Position the negative battery cable away from any body ground.
Connecting Procedure
- Verify that all electrical components are off such as interior lights, all doors are closed, the underhood
lamp, etc.
- Clean any corrosion from the negative battery cable using a wire brush.
- Position the negative battery cable (2) to the battery.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Tighten negative battery cable bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
