The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Cam gear alignment is incorrect after replacing the HVAC mode actuator

Recommendation/Instructions:

Remove white cam gear and silver shaft as a assembly from the mode actuator. With the actuator removed from the case, place the actuator across a opened vise with the white gear facing down. Use a socket (the same size as the actuator shaft) to tap the shaft out with the white gear attached. Once this shaft is separated from the actuator, align the black gear on the HVAC case with an alignment tab and mesh it with the slot on the white gear. Once the white gear is installed to the black gear on the HVAC case, the mode actuator can then be re-attached to the actuator. This can be pressed together by hand. Once installed, re-secure the actuator back to the HVAC case. Finally re-calibrate the actuators using the Tech2.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
