Wavy or Blurry Appearance of the Windshield from a Cross-Car View - keywords door front glass left noise right side

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

The purpose of this PI is to inform dealer technicians and glass shop technicians of a new design windshield and door glass. This PI supplements bulletin 04-08-48-002 to include all 2005-2006 mid-sized utilities. These vehicles may be equipped with "Quiet Tuning", which is a special acoustic laminated windshield and front door glass. Due to the difference in processing, along with the difference in the curvature of the glass, the optics of the glass may appear wavy on a cross-car view. The 2004-2006 Buick Rainier will have an acoustic laminated windshield and both front door glass. On 2005-2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer and GMC Envoy models, only the acoustic laminated windshield is available.

The wavy or blurry appearance of this glass from a cross car view is normal and the windshield glass should not be replaced for this condition. The view through the glass from the driver's position is clear and not affected.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
