DOOR CHUCKING NOISE - REPLACE LOCK ASSEMBLY
Some 1986-88 Rivieras and 1988 Reattas may experience a condition of a chucking noise heard from either of the doors when driving over bumps. This may be caused by excessive clearance between the door lock striker and the door lock assembly. A new striker bumper, located within the lock assembly, has been released to repair this condition. To repair this condition, you must replace the door lock assembly. Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the lock assembly.
Refer to section 5D of the 1988 General Motors Body Service Manual for the repair procedure.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
