WATER LEAK/WIND NOISE AT TOP OF STATIONARY VENT GLASS

SUBJECT: WATER LEAK/WIND NOISE AT TOP OF STATIONARY VENT GLASS (INSTALL NEW SIDE DOOR WEATHERSTRIP)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1988-90 REATTA

This bulletin has been revised to include information on the weatherstip and the part numbers. This bulletin also replaces Buick Bulletin No. 90-10-31.

Some 1988-'90 Reatta Coupes may experience a water leak and/or wind noise condition at the CV frame, door glass, and door weatherstrip. To correct this condition it will be necessary to install a new side door weatherstrip. This weatherstrip was redesigned to incorporate two added reinforcements at the CV to door glass weatherstrip contact surface. Use GM part numbers 3527106 (right side) and 3527107 (left side) which are currently available from GMSPO. Refer to the appropriate Service Information Manual, Section 10-6-7, for procedures. The new part numbers are the 1991 Reatta production weatherstrip.

NOTE: When a roof rail weatherstrip is replaced in a Reatta Coupe with an A-pillar retainer plate assembly with a blow-out clip, remove the blow-out clip by drilling out the two attaching rivets.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
