Some 1988 'E' models may exhibit a vibration at 70-95 Km/h with light engine load. The vibration may be felt through the floor pan and/or the steering wheel and will disappear when pressure is relieved from the accelerator pedal. The vibration may be worse when going through dips in the road or cornering.

This vibration may be caused by the spider assembly in the in-board joints of the drive axles.

To repair this condition, install a "Spider Kit" (P/N 26009543) on both drive axles. The kit includes a spider assembly, drive axle boot, clamps, and grease. Two kits per car will be required. Refer to Section 4D of the 1988 New Product Information Manual for drive axle service procedures.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
