AIR AND/OR WATER LEAK AT TOP OF DOOR GLASS TO VENT GLASS

SUBJECT: AIR AND/OR WATER LEAK AT TOP OF DOOR GLASS TO VENT GLASS (APPLY ADHESIVE TO SEALING STRIP CLOTH BACKING)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1988-91 BUICK REATTAS 'E' MODEL

Some 1988-1991 Buick Reattas may experience air and/or water leaks between the door glass and the stationary vent window.

This condition can be repaired by utilizing Service Kit, P/N #3635084, which contains 1/3 oz. bottle of adhesive and four nap cloth webbing type sealing strips.

NOTE: The adhesive included in the service kit meets all bonding requirements for the stationary urethane substrate encapsulation and is the only adhesive approved for use in this application.

To repair this condition utilize the following procedure:

1. Lower right and left windows at least 20 cm (8") from the top of the stationary vent glass.

2. Remove any foreign material from the contact surface to the urethane encapsulation material at the top of the side door glass run channel and inside surface of the stationary window.

3. Apply adhesive to sealing strip cloth backing and locate as shown in Figure 1. Tweezers may be used during adhesive application and sealing strip installation.

NOTE: Ensure adhesive wets out to encapsulation bond surfaces.

Use the most applicable Labour Operation and Time from the Canadian Labour Time Guide.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
