QUARTER TRIMLOOSE FIT ALONG BACKLITE & SAIL AREA

SUBJECT: QUARTER TRIM LOOSE ALONG BACKLITE AND SAIL AREA (REPLACE QUARTER TRIM RETAINERS)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1990 OLDSMOBILE TORONADOS,TROFEOS AND BUICK RIVIERAS 'E' MODELS

Some 1990 Oldsmobile Toronados, Trofeos, and Buick Rivieras may exhibit a condition where the quarter trim may be loose along the backlite and sail area. This may be caused by insufficient retention of the Christmas tree fasteners to the sheet metal. To repair this condition use the following procedure:

OLDSMOBILE:

----------- 1. Remove coat hook.

2. Remove assist strap covers and assist strap screws.

3. Pull quarter trim away from sheet metal to access quarter trim retainers (Christmas tree fasteners).

4. Remove three quarter trim retainers (Christmas tree fasteners). Refer to Figure 1.

5. Replace with P/N #20750175.

6. Push in quarter trim and replace coat hook and assist strap.

BUICK:

------ 1. Remove rear shoulder belt cover.

2. Remove assist strap covers and assist strap screws.

3. Pull quarter trim away from body to access quarter trim retainers (Christmas tree fasteners).

4. Remove three fasteners from quarter trim or body. Refer to Figure 1. Discard fasteners.

5. Replace with P/N #20750175.

6. Reverse removal procedure.
